Honoring Our Gifts (16)Our value. This can be pretty challenging if you don’t feel valuable or worthy within. I admit, there are days that I still struggle with value – especially when someone else contradicts what I believe about myself or says hurtful things.

The truth is our value doesn’t change whether someone else thinks we’re awful human beings or not. Our value changes when what we think about ourselves impedes our abilities to fully offer the gifts we have. When we start doubting our gifts and our value, we tend to shrink from offering it.

So today, look at your value as what you love to do that offers yourself or others a benefit of some kind. Even if you think you offer nothing, I’d like to remind you that I have an old dog. She requires a lot of walking and feeding and petting and we have to make a whole to-do if we want to be away from the house for more than 6 hours. Yet, her value is in her love, loyalty and compassion. She doesn’t do tricks, but she knows when I’m sad and sits next to me. She lets me know when my temper is steeping way before I am aware of it. She would protect me to her best 13 year old ability. She is priceless to us.

So what do you offer? How can you honor that value today?

Honoring our Value

Some ideas I had, feel free to let us know your ideas:

  • Do it. Use your value to better the world while being grateful and volunteering it freely.
  • Mentor someone else in those gifts whether it be a friend or a younger person you know. Don’t know a young one to mentor? Perhaps Big Brother/Big Sister organization could match you up with someone.
  • Remind yourself of your value – especially in rough times. Have a list of what makes you valuable to yourself and others available in case you have times when you forget.
  • Ask others to help you. It may seem cheesy, but knowing what value others see in you, may help you on dark days to remember the truth about yourself.

How are you going to honor your gifts today?

Simple ways to be grateful for our gifts. And of course, you don’t have to stick to our calendar – you can be grateful for anything that comes along today. This is just a prompt.

I’d love to hear what you are honoring today and how you are doing it. Check in with us and leave some comments.
