Honoring Our Gifts (4)

The Fool Archetype is one that isn’t often talked about. It’s the archetype or energy in us that wants nothing more but to find the fun and the joy in the present situation. Often their characteristics are prominent in the class clown but the truth is, they are actually quite clever and wise. The Fool has a lot of great qualities – they enjoy the journey of life regardless of where it leads, they live in the present moment, they love to make fun – even when none seems present and they often create their own rules.

The ego despises the Fool archetype because the Fool tends to poke fun at our ego. Our inner Fool sees the seriousness and defensiveness of the ego as silly. The Fool wants to just live in the moment without thinking about outside judgement.

While you may have a strong Fool energy or a weak Fool energy, there are gifts to having it somewhere in us. My Fool archetype helps me take myself more lightly so I can see the full situation rather than get bogged down in a shame spiral. My Fool archetype helps me laugh at myself and my humanness rather than making myself feel badly about making mistakes or getting worked up for nothing.

Honoring our Fool

  • Take a moment to listen to your inner Fool. Maybe s/he is feeling underappreciated or maybe exhausted. How does s/he show up. How can you support more balance in that energy? Make a commitment.
  • List down one quality of the Fool archetype that you relate to and a few ways that it has helped you in your life. Send blessings of gratitude for it.
  • Go do something crazy and fun without worrying about what others think. Wear that crown to the grocery store or dance like no one’s watching.

Our Fool wants us to have fun and we can lose track of that energy as we get older. Embrace the Fool so we aren’t all curmudgeons when we get older.

Simple ways to be grateful for our gifts. And of course, you don’t have to stick to our calendar – you can be grateful for anything that comes along today. This is just a prompt.

I’d love to hear what you are honoring today and how you are doing it. Check in with us and leave some comments.
