Some of the words I love and relate to summer – perhaps my favorite season. It reminds me of untamed growth and late nights and friends. It also reminds me of my garden and the fruits it bears from now until late fall.
Summer is one of the reasons I made my shift towards health. I spent several mostly in bed because I was ill. It was my favorite season and my health was preventing me from enjoying it the way I wished. There were a couple summers I didn’t even see the beach which is a glaring indicator I was not enjoying life.
I bring this up because many people tell me that they don’t want to work on their health because they want to ‘enjoy life’. Yet when I ask them why they aren’t out there ‘enjoying life’ they tell me they don’t want to go to the beach because they don’t like the way they look or they don’t have the energy to do the things they want. So is this really enjoying life?
Health doesn’t have to be complicated or restrictive.
Honest. It’s more about making conscious choices and focusing on what you really want.
The first step is being aware.
It’s not about tracking calories, it’s about being holding ourselves in honesty. It’s about looking at data. It’s about being objectively curious about what we do to our bodies and how they react. It’s looking at cause and effect and correcting course.
